The three most important shrines of Islam, i.e., Masjid Al-Haraam at Makkah and Masjid Al-Nabi at Madinah, both in Saudi Arabia, and Masjid Al-Aqsa at Jerusalem in Palestine, are intimately linked to the history of the Religion of Islam. It is desirable to know about their origin, development, historical events and their significance in the progress of the Divine Guidance to the humankind, if one wishes to fully grasp the spirit of Islam. More so in the light of the disputes and controversies surrounding Masjid Al-Aqsa, whose identity is fudged using the photographs of the golden tomb of the Dome of Rock.

Though there is a horde of literature and plenty of information available in print as well as in electronic records, there is no single volume dealing with the essential details of these important shrines.  Moreover, there is no effort to bring out their intimate relationship with each other and with the three great religions – Judaism, Christianity and Islam, which, unfortunately are at loggerhead with each other.

This Monograph fulfils this requirement aptly.  It deals with the subject in a logical sequence incorporating all key details. It will prove to be a source of authentic knowledge for those who are keen to know about these important shrines of Islam.

The most interesting aspect of this Monograph is the linking of the legacy of these shrines with the spiritual guidance of humankind that remains the special feature in our lives even in these times of explosive expansion of the material aspect of our societies.
