The monograph on Biological Sciences and Qur’anic Revelations deals essentially with the creation of man as revealed in the Qur’an, in the background of the Theory of Human Evolution as developed by Darwin, Mendel, Aldous Huxley and others. The monograph explains the basic assumptions of the Theory of Human Evolution. It points out that this theory is based on fragmentary evidence. Its assumptions on fundamental similarities in support of the theory are also weak as they completely ignore the dissimilarities which are equally important to understand the differential development between man and primates. The Theory further fails to explain why phyletic evolution has ceased among human beings for the last 40,000 years. Its concept of Natural Selection is too mechanistic to be accepted as valid for human beings. It is argued in this monograph that the Theory of Human Evolution cannot be scientifically sustained.

The Qur’an and Science agree that all living beings are created from water. The Qur’an however points out that man has been created out of a highly refined “quint essence” of clay which consequently explains the differential growth characteristics of man from other living beings. The Qur’an does not support the evolution of man from apes. Man was created as man and the entire mankind has multiplied from a single pair of Man (Adam) – Woman (Eve). The Qur’an however does not reject the concept of evolution per se. Intra species evolution is within the realm of possibility. Further it clearly suggests that human beings evolve through stages of development, passing through the cycle of life from weakness – strength – weakness.

In conclusion the monograph suggests to the anthropologists and biologists to give a fresh look to the Theory of Human Evolution which till now has failed to build up a coherent, logical, and systematic story of man evolving from primates. In contradistinction, the Qur’anic revelations regarding the creation of man are clear, candid and unambiguous.

In monograph No.17 of MEDNET: Selected Qur’anic Verses Classified by Scientific Themes, all the definitive Qur’anic verses which deal with varied scientific aspects such as Astronomical Sciences, Earth Sciences, Medical, Biological Sciences and Natural Resources have already been published. However for the benefit of the readers of this monograph an appendix has been added which highlights the Qur’anic verses relating to Biological Sciences only.
